1. What is Philosophy? Does it matter what it is? Why/why not? Philosophy is a reflection on one’s life and what it is that one believes. It is a way of life that is also a quest for finding truth (commonly seen as religion). Philosophy uses arguments and evidence. 2. Explain how you have (or haven't) improved as a philosopher, and in what ways you'd like to improve more. I am more analytical of things. I don’t believe everything that people tell me. I question concepts, opinions, and theories more. 3. Why does SLU require you to take this class? It is a required course for my major. 4. Explain what reading was for you the best? Why? “Philosophy for Dummies” was the best because it explained the different theistic views effectively using definitions as well as examples. It was also easier to read. 5. Of what you've written for the various assignments, what would you take back or change? I would take back my presentation to someone who hasn’t taken philosophy of why God exists. Though I made some effective points, I did not fully explain Pascal’s wager. I should have explained Pascal’s wager using examples. 6. How can philosophy be used to become a better person? It allows you to respect other’s opinions and see things from different perspectives.
