Measuring Personality Module 36 To measure extraversion the question may say I am outgoing; agree or disagree, etc. It is measured by object self report measures. Where does personality come from? Nature vs. Nurture Each of us has a unique personality. Why do we each have slightly different personalities? Is it genetics or environmental experiences? Genetics Behavioral geneticist- to what extent is behavior influenced by genetic factors. We mean things like genes, chromosomes, and DNA. How do all of these factors influence who we are and how we approach the world? How? Everything is simultaneously biological and psychological. We are always in an environment and always have genetics. You can’t have one without the other. Twin studies o Identical twins (genetically identical)- treated differently by their parents then fraternal twins are. They are usually dressed the same, etc. o
