Use the routine HPFLAME (on the disc included with the book) to calculate the equilibrium properties of the products of acetylene/air combustion at a constant pressure of 1.0 atm at equivalence ratios = 0.5, 1.0, 1.25, and 1.5. Repeat the calculations for a pressure of 10 atm. (a) Verify from the output mole fractions at P = 1.0 atm that the following reactions are in equilibrium for = 0.5 and 1.5: CO 2 H 2 H 2 O CO O 2 H 2 H 2 O O CO 2 CO O (b) Plot the flame temperature as a function of equivalence ratio for the two pressures. Where does the peak flame temperature occur? (c) Plot the species H 2 , H 2 O, O, H, OH versus equivalence ratio for the two pressures. Comment on the relative degree of dissociation at the two pressures.
