Kimberly Hargraves Physic Lab Reflection and Refraction with the Ray Box April 13, 2011 Part II. Using a ray box and a glass prism, the angle of incidence and the angle of refraction was determined and measured. There is a right and a left side to each angle. These two angles allowed the index of refraction to be calculated by using Snell’s law. The known index of refraction of glass is 1.523. The known and experimental value of index of refraction was compared to give the percent error. Four runs were performed. In run one, the angle of incidence and the angle of refraction on the left side is 55.8 and 22 degrees respectively. The right side in run one the angle of incidence and the angle of refraction is 48.1 and 25 degrees respectively. The left side index of refraction is 2.2 and compared to the known value of 1.5, an 1.2% error exist. The right side index of refraction is 1.8 and compared to the known value of 1.5, 0.2% error exists. During run two, the angle of incidence and the angle of refraction on the left side is 22 and 23 degrees
