How is doing operations (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing) with rational expressions similar to or different from doing operations with fractions? Doing the operations of adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing with rational expressions is similar in a way and different at the same time. They are the same because they are set up in the same form and you do the operations the same. Fractions and rational expressions are different because fractions are just a part of rational expressions, as rational expressions are more accurate. LCD was also a very helpful tool that we learned from fractions that helps us know one of the first steps in solving rational expressions. When might you use this skill in real life? This skill will come in to use quite often for me in my landscaping business. I will use skill when I make up bids to present my customers. With this skill i will be able to come up with a much more accurate number on materials for the landscaping project. It will simplify things when i have to figure out how much rock, dirt, mulch, boulders, etc for specific areas....
