3 How Do I Decide My Major or Area of Emphasis? The Marriott School offers three bachelor of science degrees: accounting, information systems, and management. Within the management degree there are seven emphases: fnance, marketing, entre - preneurship, global supply chain management, strategy, organizational behavior/human resource management, and general management. This guidebook will help you become Familiar with each oF these areas so you can make a knowledgeable decision when choosing a major. The pages that Follow explain what classes are required For all Marriott School undergraduate pro - grams. The ±owcharts will help you build a preliminary graduation plan For the major or emphasis that interests you the most. (See “Undergraduate Programs,” at marriottschool.byu.edu/bsmgt.) You will also discover how to apply to the Marriott School, which courses transFer From other schools, and which courses are required For a management or strategy minor. Next, you will be introduced to the clubs and centers in the Marriott School to help you become involved. ²inally, you will learn answers to Frequently asked questions. 4 Accounting Career Information Overview Accounting is frequently called the language of business. Accounting provides the methods and processes for recording and communicating what business activities occur as well as the impact and implication of those activities on business decisions. Accounting requires an aptitude for mathematics as well as critical and detail-oriented thinking. Accountants must be able to communicate the results of their work to clients and members of the management team both orally and in writing.
