Left hemisphere specializations The left hemisphere of the brain is largely specialized for: temporal order perception, calculation analysis language localizing language to the left hemisphere for most people Autopsy of aphasic brains indicates site of lesion (injury) is LH Aphasics have right visual field and right motor impairments Epileptics with surgically separated hemispheres have no language for left side experience (right hemisphere is a languageless but independent brain).
