Unformatted text preview: Jesus belief in living in accordance with what you teach along with reaching out to all people including sinners and gentiles creates an ongoing struggle with the Pharisees. Jesus did not try to discount the Pharisees teachings. He believed that their teachings were adhering to the Torah, but they were not following it themselves. The Pharisees seemed to think from Chapter 23 of Matthew that since they are the teachers they do not have to follow their teachings. I believe Jesus goal was to bring attention to the Pharisees misconducts so that they could become better instructors. It is easier for people to believe and live in accordance by what is being taught if they can see that the instructors are living by their teachings. This is part of the reason why Jesus message can resonate. People can see his strong beliefs by the way he lives his life which is something they want to model themselves after....
