Papers are due in the digital drop box October 25 by midnight. Temple’s plagiarism policies apply to this assignment. 1. What is the difference between a life of conformity and nonconformity according to Emerson? How does heeding the call of our genius change the character of the actions and the discourse in which we participate on his view? Is it possible to detect one’s genius, or that of another individual? Does nonconformity surpass moral correctness in value, as you view the text and the arguments produced through Emerson’s romanticism? Do we appear presently to be witnessing the flourishing of individual creativity in the American context in some manner at variance with what occurs elsewhere in the world, either at present or in the past?
