Unformatted text preview: Makayla Bradford April 18, 2011 HWST 107 TTH 7:30-8:45 Video: First Contact It is scary meeting anyone for the first time but I could not imagine believing I was the only person who existed and one day seeing another person. This is what happened to the natives that changed their lives forever. Natives may have thought they were treated great and held importance, but in reality whites were exploiting them and making profits off of them. Women were treated as prostitutes so that their families could trade with the white men for goods and money. Natives believed the white men were spirits, my first thought would be they were ghost trying to haunt me. I can understand the Natives being sacred and I would be terrified. It is hard to understand why they let the white men control them, they could have walked away and maybe then they wouldn’t have had to go through deaths and diseases.
