Matthew Rodriguez 4-30-20 Performance Task In the year 1780, Abigail Adams wrote a letter to her son John Quincy Adams, regarding his concern over traveling to France with his father and U.S diplomat John Adams. Throughout her letter, Adams attempts to convince John Quincy Adams of the journey's importance to his life by demonstrating t he advantages that such a journey will provide him with such as diligence and maturity. Abigail Adams conveys her message as an emotional to appeal to her son while also using logic to show that in order to be a leader, he needs to go to France. Abigail Adams works to urge her son to participate in his journey to France, so he can achieve the greatness she expects of him. Abigail Adams opens with a statement that John is making an ill-advised decision to deny participating in the French voyage. She then gives analogies to explain the advantages he will get by attending this expedition along with his father.
