In your opinion, what potential positive and negative ramifications could result from offering payment incentives for physician participation in Medicare programs? Explain your answers and provide examples from this week’s Internet and ERR readings located on your student web page. Offering incentives could have some positive benefits. Incentives could encourage more doctors to participate. The doctors could make more services available to patients that are seriously ill. People in the incentives group were up to date on their immunizations at a significantly improved rate. One potential negative effect of incentives is that doctors who did not meet the predetermined quality measures ended up having special conditions that were associated with their reimbursement contracts. Overall, I believe the effect of incentives would be negative; doctors should not need incentives offered in order to provide their patients with the highest quality care possible. The positive incentive would be that all provides would provide care
