Review:Seafloor I. Vocab 1) Abyssal Plain - Deep ocean flat, floor. Results from sedimentation and 4 types include Lithogenous, Biogenous, Hydrogenous, and Cosmic. 2) Asthenosphere - Upper mantle that is plastic-like and provides energy for plate tectonics. 3) Bathymetry - Chart of the ocean that shows lines connecting points of similar depth. 4) Biogenous Sediments - remains of living organisms, calcareous and oozes are examples. 5) Continental Crust - 6) Continental Margin - Includes the continental shelf, continental slope, and continental rise. It is a profile of the ocean floor that lies beneath the Neritic Zone. 7) Continental rise - Gently sloping, thick accumulation of sediment 8) Continental Shelf - Submerged part of a continent, most life and best fishing.
