Lindsey Aronoff Marine Vocab 1) Amphipod     -A type of crustacean with a body similar to a shrimp belonging to the  order Amphipoda. 2) Arthropod     -An animal belonging to the phylum Arthropoda.  Arthropods are  characterized by jointed appendages and a hard exterior covering. 3) Cephalothorax     -The concentration of sensory organs in the head region of an  animal. 4) Chelicera     -An appendage in chelicerates that is modified for feeding and takes  the place of mouthparts. 5) Cheliped     -The first pair of legs of many decapods; these two are modified to form  claws used for capturing prey and for defense. 6) Chitin     -A polysaccharide found in the cell walls of fungi and in the exoskeletons  of many arthropods. 7) Cirriped     -Feathery appendage used by barnacles to filter food from the  surrounding water. 8)
