3 INTRODUCTION How many reactants and elements in a chemical reaction is better known as Stoichiometry. Some compounds that have oxygen can be broken down by heat. We can easily calculate how much (percentage) oxygen is in the compound by weighing the compound before and after. By finding the difference in weight we now know how much oxygen was lost in proportion to the weight of the entire compound. A catalyst is something that speeds up a reaction, in this example MnO
