Task: After reading pages 262 - 270, discuss any false assumptions you or others you know mayhave had about eating disorders and obesity.
Task: Revisit Brenda Patton from Nursing 166, Family Centered Care course. Brenda is now 6months post partum. She takes the baby to the pediatrician for a check-up. The nurse noticesBrenda is extremely thin. Brenda tells the nurse she has lost about 40 pounds since the baby wasborn and was so glad the 20 pounds she gained during pregnancy is gone plus much more. Shesays she is still very heavy and would plans to look great in about 6 more months. She currentlyweighs 115 pounds. The nurse asks a few more questions and Brenda shares that she doesn't havetime to eat because the baby needs a lot of care, her boyfriend isn't around much, she works twojobs, works out a few hours a day, and she just doesn't want to get old and fat and not attractiveto him anymore. He has told her that if she stays "fat" he won't be around.
