Pre-IB Biology Daily Schedule Unit 3A: Water’s Emergent Properties and Life’s Processes CHs 2.5-2.6 and 41.1-41.7 6 October – 26 October DAY PLAN HOMEWORK Block 10/6 10/7 Warm up – Draw a water molecule. Illustrate with symbols that water molecules are polar. Show a hydrogen bond between the molecule you drew and another water molecule. 1) Students will investigate the emergent properties of water by experimentally demonstrating several of the emergent properties: Surface Tension, Evaporative Cooling, Adhesion and Cohesion, Universal Solvent, High Specific Heat, pH. 2) At the end of class, HAND IN written group results that show evidence (quantitative and/or qualitative) of each of the emergent properties of water. Read CH 2, Sec 2.5 and 2.6 Prepare for a Reading Quiz over 2.5-2.6 Monday Personal Practice: 1. Self Quiz 7-14, p. 33 2. Critical Thinking #4, p. 33 Friday 10/8 Warm up – List and describe the emergent properties of water that make life possible on earth. 1) Aquatic Macrophyte Paper Due
