Do you know that United States has the highest obesity rate in the world?This shouldn’t be surprise since United State is also the biggest big mac consumer in the world. From the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, more than one-third of U.S. adults were obese in 2011-2012. That’s mean 2 out of 3 Americans are considered overweight or obese (Ogden,2013). Obesity rate in America has shown no sign of decrease over the past 33 years, and if we don’t do anything to stop it, it would skyrocket by 2030.To address this problem, I will first talk about the effects of obesity, second, what has caused the obesity rate to go up, and finally what can we do to help solve the problem.So, what exactly is obesity? Don’t confuse obesity with overweightAccording to NIDDK, " Overweight refers to an excess amount of body weight that may come from muscle, bones, and water. And obesity refers to an excess amount of body fat. People are considered obese when their BMI is 30 or greater.
