Alden vs. Estate of Presley 2 Abstract The purpose of this paper is to answer the following questions concerning the case study of Alden vs. Presley Was Presley’s promise to pay the mortgage enforceable against the estate? Why or why not? This paper is to determine if there actually was a legal and binding contract between Presley and Alden. And to find if Alden had legal standing to sue the estate of Presley for the remaining amount owed on the mortgage debt amounting to $40,000. The case is as follows: Elvis Presley, a well-known singer and entertainer, was a wealthy person. When engaged to Ginger Alden, he promised Alden’s mother, Jo Laverne Alden, to pay off the remaining mortgage debt on the Alden home. However, Presley died before he had the chance to pay off the mortgage. The legal representative of Presley’s estate refused to follow through on the
