Rhein 1 Sarah Rhein PSY 231 A February 8 th , 2010 Assignment 3: Discuss whether or not you agree that there can be benefits to non- parental care or whether you feel that daycare is detrimental to early child development. Non-parental care is vital to the development of children. However, it could be detrimental if started too early or if the child does not have proper, stimulating experience. The quality of the care can either make or break the way a child is affected by non-parental care. In the long run, good non-parental care is very important for a child’s future and can set a firm foundation for the rest of their life. Peer interaction is one of the most influential stimuli in the life of a child going through the middle childhood and adolescence stages. Early stimulation of peer environments can help prepare a child for what is to come socially in grade school and beyond.
