Primarily observational –most basic form of study 2. Baby Journals a. Dietrich Tiefemann (1787) –it is difficult to interview a baby (haha) –took notes on his kids and plotted changed he saw in a journal –strictly observation 1. Most people want to believe the best of their own child 2. Subject to misinterpretation –pitfall to all observational research –we are going to prefer the observations that prove what we wanted to know b.
