Divide independently of the cell’s division reproduce their own DNA Modern evidence? Some protistas and marine slugs do the following: o Eat green algae; digest most of the stuff, but… o Chloroplasts from algae stay in their gut cells (They’re enslaved there) o Chloroplasts use nutrients from the cells
