ISB 202 10-2-08 Three (3) kind of RNA are made by genes in the nucleus (of eukaryotes) then they migrate out into the cytoplasm where protein synthesis occurs Messenger RNA carries the complement of the DNA cells Fats and carbs are important, but there is no life without proteins- huge macromolecules , made of amino acids Protein synthesis is carried out by three kind of DNA, but the instructions are coded in genetic material called By unit, we are referring to the number of base pairs A gene is a region of a chromosome which can doe for the synthesis of a specific protein Are proteins synthesized in the nucleus? No What type of RNA forma as unit with the ribosome to decode mRNA and synthesize proteins? rRNA If four bases can join in sets of three, there are 64 possibilities, right? (4 3 = 64) Why are there only 20 amino acids? Several codons may code for the same amino acid Enzymes always end in –ase How do genes become changed? o
