Christina Zinkel IAH 202 10 December 2009 Brick Lane Extra Credit Assignment One of the main similarities between the fathers was the fact that they had all gone through sacrifices for their families . They were all not altogether happy with what had happened in their lives but they wanted nothing but the best for their children so they always strived for the best . The fathers differ because Chanu was the only one in an unhappy relationship. The other two had the strong support of their wives . They had all experienced racism or discrimination because of their religion so they tried to shelter them from the outside world by surrounding them only with those of the same ethnicity to decrease their exposure to the outside world . Their children had problems with this because they had been raised in the outside world instead of having been raised within their culture they were raised with a mix and because they were being forced into something they did not identify with, they rebelled . The wives in these stories were all very similar in their outlook on life
