The "system of systems methodologies" is not a short cut to, but rather an enrichment of, Total Systems Intervention (TSI). For example, the whole point of using systemic metaphors in the process of TSI, is to avoid the drawing of premature or narrow conclusions about the issues being faced. Total Systems Intervention combines creative thinking about the nature of problem situations, using the systems metaphors, with informed choice of systems methodology, based upon knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of different methodologies gained from the "system of systems methodologies". We believe that a rewarding route to the successful treatment of the most significant "problems" or issues facing an organisation is to follow the full logic and process of TSI, as set out in the next chapter. 2.6
