Stat503: Project (Part 2) Due Thursday, December 10, 2009 1 Introduction The purpose of this project is to help you connect what we learn in class with what we experience outside the classroom. We will apply the knowledge and methodology we learn in class on real life problems. We will follow the standard statistical procedures from collecting data, analyzing data, drawing conclusions and delivering a final report. The goal is to apply critical thinking and learn how to solve problems statistically. In order to answer this question, a scientific / statistical process must be followed: Formulate the scientific question. Design experiment and collect data. Analyze data. Draw statistical conclusions. Draw scientific conclusion. The Questions The project is formulized into the following specific research questions. Assume α = 0.05. 1. Estimate the mean height of Purdue students. What can you infer from this interval? 2.
