Ramirez 1 Theodore Roosevelt was the 26 th President of the United States from 1901 to 1909. He was popular for his energetic personality, his achievements and his leadership of the Progressive Movement 1 . He was one of the leaders for the Republican Party and founded the Progressive party in 1912.Before becoming a politician he was known for his achievements as a naturalist, author and as a soldier among other achievements 2 . In 1901 the actual president of the United States William McKinely was assassinated and Progressivism comes to the white house when Roosevelt becomes the youngest president ever at the age of 42. Roosevelt tries to move the Republican Party in the direction of Progressivism and one of his main goals was the modernization, expansion and the reform of the Federal Government. His foreign diplomacy was always characterized by his famous catchphrase: “Speak softly and carry a big stick”. Among his International achievements is the completion of the Panama Canal, and the negotiation that ended the war between
