Anthropology in general is the study of humans and our past. In the context of forensic science, anthropology is a useful tool in helping to determine vital information if there are bones present. From specific bones, the specialist can estimate the age and height, and determine gender and race. The forensic anthropologist can also assist the medical examiner or coroner when identification cannot be made from tests such as DNA. He can also identify cause and manner of death, but he cannot officially determine it since it is the medical examiner's decision by law. The Why Files pertaining to anthropology really gives insight as to how far forensic anthropology techniques have advanced.
