THM 1311 – INTRO TO TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY  GROUP PRESENTATION 3 INTRUCTOR: GEUNHEE LEE Sustainable Tourism We will discuss the economic, socio-cultural, and environmental impacts of tourism on host  societies in the class and they can be both positive and negative. From the management  perspective, the key is to minimize the negative impacts of tourism while maintaining and  inducing, if possible, maximum positive impacts. Thus, in order to successfully manage a tourist  destination and ensure its long-term competitive advantage, we should be able to identify what  the negative and positive impacts are and develop appropriate measures to build the “sustainable  destination”. Nowadays, many marketers, tour operators, and destinations are trying to promote their products
