Lecture 6-How Do We Become Who We Are? Socialization Socialization - Life long process in which people learn the attitudes, values and behavior appropriate for members of a particular culture. Focalization: The process by which we have come hear is called Focalization. Socialization and Life Course Socialization is a life-long process. Rites of passage- Ceremonies marking different phases of development in the life cycle. E.g.-Rag day, Marriage, Parenthood Egyptian mothers step over their newborns seven times.
