What is Family ? A set of people Related by Blood, marriage, or adoption or some other agreed-upon relationships Share primary responsibility for reproduction and caring for members of society Types of Family - Nuclear Family-Married couple and unmarried children Extended Family-Grand parents, Uncles, Aunts, and Children Monogamy-One woman and One Man married to each other Serial Monogamy-A person may have several spouses in life, but only one at a time Based on Marriage pattern - Polygamy-Multiple spouses at the same time 20% men in five African countries have polygamous marriages Polygyny-One man has more than one wife Polyandry-One woman has more than one husband (E.g. Todas of southern India,  Tibetans)
