I believe that in order to help the ELL students grow and understand in their day to day classes should be encouraged with visuals and also, sound recognition. The schools do have the ability to have auditory help with computer programs, these also come with visuals. Here are the top ten things I would do to helping an ELL student become successful in my class. 1. Identify which language that it is for sure a. There are times that Spanish is confused with their cousins. (ex. Portuguese) b. Have a meeting with the student’s parents to see what level they understand of the English language. c. If the parents have enough knowledge explains to them how to reinforce the lessons at home. 2. Once language is figured out, find visuals that the student could use as flash cards. a. You can get visual flash cards for the student to use on a temporary basis. b. Have them accessible on a binder ring for easy flipping and keeping them together. 3.
