PRE-PROCEDURE TESTING•bowel preparation, pre-treatment ultrasound, MRI or CT scan, blood tests, chest x-ray, and an electrocardiogram•A transrectal ultrasound examination•discontinue medications containing aspirin and ibuprofen•follow a liquid diet •abstain from food and drink after midnight•An enema or suppository is used
