Employers have to ensure that employees and HRM systems are free of bias and value the perspectives and experience that women and minorities can contribute to organizational goals d. Skill Deficiencies of the Workforce: i. Increasing use of computers to do routine tasks has shifted the kinds of skills needed for employees 1. Physical strength and mastery of a particular piece of machinery are no longer important II. Focus on Strategy a. High Quality Standards: i. Total Quality Management (TQM) 1. A companywide effort to continuously improve the ways people, machines, and systems accomplish work 2. Several core values: a. Methods and processes are designed to meet the needs of internal and external customers
