6 Would you be willing to take a survey? This term I am using entirely online quizzes and examinations. As I have said many times, I do NOT believe in this philosophy, but it is the direction eCampus is headed. I much prefer to have at least one of the exams, if not all, taken in a proctored setting. I firmly believe that the proctored exams, while not totally effective, do represent our best chance at maintaining the academic integrity of this course. I am truly disappointed when I detect students trying to gain an unfair advantage over the rest of the students in the class. I am currently conducting research into methods for maintaining academic integrity in the Distance Learning environment. I have been collecting statistics on class behavior and class performance in my classes for both the non-proctored and proctored settings.

Nationwide statistics suggest that 75% of college students cheat in one form or another, an astounding number that continues to grow! I am also considering posting a survey in all my present and future online classes. Would you be willing to take an ANONYMOUS survey? I am very surprised that the statistics say 75% cheat. Most schools have programs and browsers that prevent cheating. I think that having these items and programs would make it impossible to do it. I do feel at a disadvantage when others are cheating.
