Instruction Module MGT3373 – Week5 (Heizer 10e) Instructor Comments/Notes: Reminder : In this Instruction Module (and every one to follow) I will ‘recommend’ several textbook discussion questions, even-number exercises, and Case studies for you to attempt/study. Although I will ultimately provide the solutions/answers, I urge you to work them on your own before reading the solution/answer as a pre-test of your comprehension. I will also give you the solutions to additional problems in the Course Material section of my Blackboard page. . The purpose, of course, is to enhance your process of self-study. This mimics what is normally done in a classroom presentation: review of the material and working example problems. PLEASE NOTE: the Self-Test discussion questions, even-numbered exercises, additional problems and Case studies are for your own study and are NOT to be turned in to the instructor. Unless otherwise stated, the ONLY parts of the assignments that are to be submitted each week are the quiz responses. In addition to the specific items posted in the weekly Instruction Modules, I urge all students to do the following: - Go to the Pearson Companion site and practice with the Self-Study Quizzes - Go to the Pearson Companion site and work the Practice Problems - Work the “Solved Problems” in each chapter on your own before reading the solutions - Overview: In Chapter 6S “Statistical Process Control” we will discuss the fundamentals of statistical process control, a widely used technique for controlling processes in today’s business world. We will discuss the procedures for and advantages of several process control charts and examine their advantages, disadvantages and specific applicability. We will discuss these subjects in the context of the need for acceptance sampling. In Chapter 7 “Process Strategy and Sustainability” we will discuss process analysis and design for both manufacturing and service industries. We will also discuss various production technologies, including hardware, software and integrated approaches. In
