Online Basics: Threading and Message Formatting In this information presentation, you will learn how to organize and format messages in the online classroom as well as set up a unique signature block. Reading Messages To read a message, select a thread from the Thread column such as the one (Question about test) shown in the following graphic: When the thread opens, it displays all messages contained within it. Click on one of these messages. The bottom window displays the message, and the upper window lists all replies to the message. To read a reply, click on a message under the original message.

Viewing Individual Threads A thread is a conversation topic within the classroom forum. An example topic is DQ 1, shown in the graphic below. To view individual threads, complete the following steps: 1. Select a thread topic to view that thread. The thread topic expands and displays all messages in the thread. 2.
