Case 3: The Body Shop’s Reputation is Tarnished How has The Body Shop continued to address the four components of corporate social responsibility? The Body Shop has struggled with its economic responsibilities. The company needs to keep its economic success in focus and ask whether its social involvement is helping or hurting the firm’s profitability. The company appears to be obeying the law. However, many of Entine’s charges may eventually reveal illegalities on the company’s part. There are many ethical issues raised in the case – stealing the concept of the store, misrepresentation of product sources/claims, franchising practices, degree of animal testing used, and so on. The eventual legality and ethics of these practices cannot be determined by the case. The company continues to fulfill its philanthropic responsibilities by promoting social causes. 2.
