What is the Electoral College?-A group of electors formed every 4 years to choose the President and Vice President.-”In general, all voters participate in the election of a president; in the United States, we utilize a form of indirect election called the Electoral College.” (Whitman,2020)-The Electoral College consists of 538 electors
How It Works-The Electoral College is chosen by the amount of members of the House of representatives and senators each state has representing them.-A President and Vice President to be elected they need to have gained 270 votes out of the 538 electors.-“Despite popular belief, the U.S. Constitution does not provide for the popular election of the American president. It provides for popular election of presidential electors.” (Elving,2016)
