Name: Date: Class Period: Gathering Evidence: Quotes for Character Analysis Essay Directions: Type up all of the quotes that you have about your character. If you are doing a 3-paragraph essay , you will only need 3 quotes for your essay, but you should have at least 5 for this assignment so that you can choose the best ones to use in your essay. If you are doing the 5-paragraph essay , you should have at least 6 quotes , but try for 8 so you can choose the best ones for your essay. In selecting quotes, follow these guidelines: Choose a variety – some that show what other character say or think, some that show your character’s actions, some that show your character’s words. Find quotes from different parts of the book. Find a description from Chapter 1 or 2, find some action from Chapters 3 and 4, and find something from Chapter 5 or 6. (Unless you have Crooks, in which case many, but not all, of your quotes will come from Chapter 4.) For each quote, you will need to ADD SOME CONTEXT from the book. This
