Speech III: Informative Outline Student Z Date Term Topic Question : Should Congress pass the Travel Promotion Act ? I. Introduction A. Attention-Gaining Strategy: I will ask three (3) classmates what state they are from, and then use the “Power of Travel” interactive map/ VISUAL 1 to show them travel’s economic impact on their home state (http://poweroftravel.org/statistics/). B. Need to Listen/Importance to Audience : As you all saw on the screen, tourism and travel affect every city, state, and country. Travel: Creates 7.5 million jobs, is Responsible for $110 billion in tax receipts, and Earns $700 billion in spending (http://poweroftravel.org/statistics/). After gaining the audience’s attention, I will introduce my topic, “Should Congress pass the Travel Promotion Act? ” PowerPoint/ VISUAL 2 C. Credibility: Being a Tourism and Hospitality Major, I am extremely interested in the future of the tourism industry. In my major specific courses, I have discussed many of the topics I will address today, and I have felt direct impacts (both good and bad) from current the travel situation, specifically international tourism. D. Preview of Main Points: During this informative presentation, you will become familiar with the international tourism industry, foreigners’ perspectives on USA tourism, and current legislation-Travel Promotion Act…sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!
