Speech IV: Proposition of Fact Outline Student Z Date Should Congress Pass the Travel Promotion Act of 2008? I. Introduction A. Attention Gaining Strategy Show the “Where the Bloody Hell are You?” tourism campaign, and ask, “After seeing that commercial, does Australia become a more attractive destination? Or, did the commercial at least spark your interest in the country?” Most of you will say yes, and you are definitely not alone. Australia’s tourism promotion campaigns typically have a return on investment of $64:$1 ( Blueprint )! If this number doesn’t sound significant, to put it in perspective, ROI for average marketing campaigns vary from 10-20% ( Consumer Behavior) . Tourism marketing campaigns on the national level are mostly targeted to international tourists. Leading competitive countries are spending millions of dollars on promotions. For example, Australia-$113 million Canada- $58.5 million China- $60 million Egypt- $46 million ( World Tourism Organization) Transition: This spending is justified by the various benefits associated with tourism, specifically international tourism, and this leads me to my thesis. B. POF and Preview of Main Points 1. Thesis: Increased international inbound travel offers a solution to many of our nation’s current issues. 2. Preview of Main Points: To solidify this claim, today I will talk about three of the main points which frame the argument in favor of the Travel Promotion Act of 2008-economic impacts, safety concerns, and the cost of doing
