All kinds of things in middle of woods Helped create Florida Parks service Planted trees – over 2 billion “Tree Army” Employed 3 million is 9 years of existence Not typical 8-5 job Would be sent out of town for duration of employment War department ran CCC Lived in barracks Had military type uniforms Had revellee Critics thought he was “preparing the army” Pay was $25 a month Had to send $20 home to family If you wanted to stay longer, you had to reenlist When you left, you got a discharge paper
