Matt Serna Ms.Davis Intro to Film November 14, 2010 The 400 Blows The 400 Blows was an excellent movie in my opinion. It was a film that really shows how things don’t always change over time, and neither do kids. It did such a good job with relating it to our generation and that’s one of the reasons why I liked it so much. In a way I can really relate to the main character and the problems he goes through. This story was the old story of a boy that tries to do everything right and always winds up either getting yelled at or getting in trouble. I can sometimes be the same way. But the thing that bothers me is that in the film no one really acknowledges him when he does do something right, the other character always focuses in on the negatives that than the positives, and that is such a problem today in our society. We focus on all the negatives issues and ignore the positive things. I bet that if you watch the news now a

In the film the parents were not unlike any parents that you would see today. If parents have a child that is causing them trouble they don’t know how to effectively deal with their kid. So what the result is, that parents will send their child to a boarding school of some sort. This exact thing happens today and back then, it happened in my family, my sister was too much for them to handle so they had to send her to a boarding school for someone else to take care of her. And I got to tell you, this works less than half of the time. Well all in all I thought this was a great movie, in basically showing how boys will be boys and there is nothing that can be done to prevent that. On a grade scale I would give the film The 400 Blows an A-....
