Introduction The purpose of this report is to present the design of the fixture for the cover housing part of the electric rotary vibrator. This report will include not only the design of the fixture, but items that will need to be purchased to complete the fixture and the full bill of materials, force analysis, and a means of manufacturing the fixture. This fixture was designed with utilizing a horizontal milling machine with a rotating pallet. This would allow machining of three different sides of the part without refixturing the part. This posed some problems in the design phase to be able to have a secure fixture that is accessible from three sides. Expected Operation of the Fixture The fixture for the rotary vibrator will clamp the cover housing on the back side with the front side facing up and then will be clamped down on both sides (figure 1) . Figure 1 shows the orientation of the part in the fixture. After being clamped into the fixture processing will start on the bottom surface of the part where surface milling will take place followed by the drilling of the two holes. The fixture is then rotated 90 degrees by pulling out the spring pin and turned by means of the handle on the right side. After rotating, the front surface will be processed by face milling, counter boring four holes, and finally drilling four small through holes.
