Discuss religious groups and women as minorities. Make sure that you include discussion on the following: Describe the explanations provided by the three major sociological perspectives of the importance of religion on intergroup relations. Describe the explanations provided by the three major sociological perspectives of how males became the dominant group and females the subordinate group. Highlight specific challenges that religious minorities and women face in American society and compare these challenges to those faced in other parts of the world. Religious groups and women form some of the largest minority groups in the world. Both of these groups share many of the characteristics that are typical of minority groups. These characteristics are unequal treatment, distinguishing physical or cultural characteristics that are easily identifiable and held in low esteem, a common sense of peoplehood, a shared ascribed status, and the practice of endogamy. Minority groups have always struggled with intergroup relations because of the adversity they face in their roles. Religious groups have had a significant impact on intergroup relations throughout history. These intergroup relations are all viewed in a different way by each of the different sociological perspectives. The different sociological perspectives also have different views on how males became the dominant group and females the subordinate
