Unformatted text preview: LAB C Tom Pampalone Page 1 of 4 LABORATORY EXPERIMENT REPORT Name: Tom Pampalone Group Members: Juan,Paulina,Eric,Ronard Experiment Date: Wednesday, April 27, 2011 Course Name: PHYS 106A Section: 008 Instructor: Professor Seman LABORATORY # C Physical Pendulum with Small Amplitude 1. O B J E C T I V E The objective of this lab experiment is to verify that the period T of physical pendulum with small amplitude that is given by the T equation, where m is the mass of the pendulum, I is its moment of inertia about the rotation axis, and D is the distance between the rotation axis and CG. The second objective is to determine gravitational acceleration g by measuring the oscillation period of the physical pendulum and applying equation 1. 2. T H E O R E T I C A L BACKG R O U N D A physical pendulum is a body which is free to oscillate about an axis that doesnt pass through its center of mass and is perpendicular to the plane of oscillation. Different from the simple pendulum where the oscillation body could e treated as a point mass, a...
