Associated Student of Saint Louis University Student Government Association Senate Bill (SB) – 050-11 March 9 th , 2011 Intent and Purpose: To amend the Bylaws to update the Residential Affairs Committee description. Whereas, the ASSLU Student Government Association represents the entire student body, Whereas, the Residential Affairs Committee description is vague and is in need of up dating, Whereas, these changes will specifically state what members of the Residential Affairs Committee should be doing, Whereas, these changes increase the amount of communication from the residential senators to the Department of Housing and Residence Life administration, the Residence Hall Association and hall councils, and the on-campus residential students of the University, Therefore, let the Association’s Bylaws be amended such that: SECTION III. STANDING COMMITTEES AND COMMISSIONS F. The Residential Affairs Committee shall: 1. Be composed of all residential senators and up to three Committee Representatives. One senator shall be nominated to serve as the chair of the committee. Additionally, the committee shall consist of two members of the Residence Hall Association, nominated by the Residence Hall Association and Association Presidents and confirmed by the Senate. a) The chair of the Committee shall meet regularly with the Director of Housing and Residence Life and other members of the Department. b) Residential senators shall meet on a regular bases with their respective Residence Hall Coordinator. 2. Review any proposed or enacted residential related policies or procedures of the Administration including, but not limited to, the Department of Housing and Residence Life. Following the committee’s review, it shall make recommendations known to the Senate by way of formal legislation or written report. 3.
