AGENCY VISITED I visited the Wallowa Valley Center for Wellness (WVCW), the primary mental health and disability services agency in Wallowa County. Wallowa County has a population of 7,051 (World Population Review, 2018). WVCW is a non-profit agency that employs approximately 70 people that Danielle stated “touches around 600 unique individuals a year, with 300 being ongoing clients.” Services Offered Outpatient mental health counseling, case management, psychosocial rehabilitation, Assertive Community Treatment, Early Assessment and Support Alliance, Supported Employment, Early Bird Program, school counseling, adult and child psychiatry, marriage and family therapy, developmental disability services, nursing, 24/7 crisis intervention and on-call, mobile medical and mental health services, peer support services, and tele-medicine/therapy. The Wallowa Valley Center for Wellness also operates two small residential facilities that serve an average of 15 residents. Mission of the Agency On Wallowa Valley Center for Wellness’ website they state their mission is to “facilitate growth and wellness through services and resources that empower personal action” (Wallowa Valley Center for Wellness, n.d). Their slogan, “Bringing Health, Wellness, Dignity, and Hope to our Community” (Wallowa Valley Center for Wellness, n.d.) aligns well with the NASW Code of Ethics values of service, dignity and worth of the person, and importance of human relationships (National Association of Social Workers, 2017). Adults, youth, children, seniors, veterans - WVCW is the primary mental health and disability services agency in the county, serving mental health needs, addiction services, crisis intervention, and residential services. The ACT team and residential services serves adult clients with severe and persistent mental health disabilities. EASA, school counseling, Early Bird program and outpatient child psychiatry and therapy serve all youth in particular, while outpatient services, crisis, disability services, veterans services are available to all ages and abilities. Social Worker’s Job Activities and Professional Roles Danielle has been working for WVCW for four and one half years in various positions, including school counselor, ACT Therapist and ACT Supervisor.
