Thanks to the growing population of paralegals, the legal needs of society are being met at a much more affordable rate. Society has also become more aware of legal rights and is now more than ever, better informed about the legal process. Paralegals perform many of the same functions and tasks as an attorney. It is amazing how the roles and responsibilities of paralegals have expanded since the start of this profession. Whats even more amazing is the fact that these roles and responsibilities are still continuing to expand. This is why it is so important for paralegals to uphold a high level of ethical standard. If paralegals are performing so many of the same tasks as attorneys, then they should, for the most part, be held to the same ethical standards. Just like attorneys, paralegals should possess integrity, professional skill, and a dedication to helping improve the legal system. They should also strive to expand the role in the delivery of legal services.
